Did You Know?

May is Youth Month!

Every year, during the month of May, we invite the high school and middle school kids to take a more visibly active role in our Sunday morning services.  We use this time to showcase the wonderful ways that God has blessed our church family, and the great things happening in our youth group.

This year, we will cap off our month, on Sunday, May 26, by hearing from our graduating seniors about how their faith has influenced their lives, and take some time in the service to pray for them and their futures. Contact Zack Aumiller, zaumiller@mppc.org.

Deacon Ministry: Connecting & Caring

Deacons are ordained officers of the church, who foster connecting and caring within the church community. Their passion is to help connect members of the community with each other and to ministry.  They also provide compassionate response to congregational needs not met by a member’s small group or fellowship group. They care for the community through in-person or over-the-phone prayer, visitation, and occasional help with practical needs (rides, meals).  Contact ODCMV Deacons, 650.330.7540, deacons@odcmv.org.

Men Pursuing Purity

Men Pursuing Purity is a healing ministry for single and married men who long for freedom from the darkness and shame that comes with sexual sin. We bring men to the cross, trusting the Lord to redeem hearts, minds, and souls. In him we find our true selves, loved, forgiven, and healed. In him we find grace and truth (John 1:14).

For all men who have tried repeatedly to leave sin behind, there is hope for real liberation! Men Pursuing Purity is led by men who have experienced healing from sexual addictions, and who minister from compassion, integrity, and total dependence on God.  Contact Craig Lauchner, 650.279.2895, craig_lauchner@yahoo.com.

Offer a Helping Hand!

The Helping Hands Team puts compassion into action by providing practical assistance to the Open Door Church Mountain View community, e.g., preparing meals, rides to medical appointments, etc.  As Scott Palmbush often says, "We do not have a bench or sidelines at Open Door Church Mountain View – everybody gets to play!", and this is a simple way to “get in the game” and make a difference in the lives of others within our community!  We utilize a web-based community, Lotsa Helping Hands, to communicate needs to those who have signed up to offer help as needed.  If you would like to be included in our on-line community to be alerted as needs arise, please contact Angelyn Knab, aknab@mppc.org.

Teach English to Local Day Laborers!

Open Door Church Mountain View's Service Outreach Team invites you to bless Spanish speaking day laborers in our community by helping them learn English! The Day Worker Center of Mountain View helps laborers legally obtain short-term day jobs, such as landscaping, yard work, painting, and other home repairs. Volunteers are needed to help day laborers learn English. For more information on the Day Worker Center, please visit www.dayworkercentermv.org. If you would like to learn more about volunteering, please call Patricia Markee, 650.493.6242.

Mentor Opportunity at Jeremiah's Promise
